Isle of Man Cricket Centre.
This project involved the conversion of a former industrial unit at Carrs Lane, Tromode into the new Isle of Man Indoor Cricket Centre — a purpose-designed training facility supporting the continued growth of cricket on the Island. The scheme provides a high-quality indoor training environment capable of supporting year-round use, allowing players to train throughout the winter months regardless of weather conditions. The facility includes cricket lanes, specialist training equipment, changing facilities, office accommodation and a mezzanine balcony viewing area overlooking the main hall. Described as “state of the art”, the centre also incorporates an advanced bowling machine used by only a limited number of cricket clubs worldwide, helping provide elite-level training opportunities on the Isle of Man. The project demonstrates how existing industrial buildings can be successfully adapted to create modern sports and leisure facilities, bringing underutilised commercial space back into active community use while supporting local sporting development in Douglas and across the Island.
