Isle of Man Prison, Jurby

This project involved architectural works at the Isle of Man Prison in Jurby, the island’s primary custodial facility comprising 124 cells. The scheme was for the creation of a modern new-build prison designed to modern day custodial requirements and represents the practice’s largest project to date. The design was developed in collaboration with a UK secure facilities specialist architect, with McGarrigle Ayre Architects acting as the local architect. Working as part of the integrated design team, the practice provided local knowledge and insight into the Isle of Man planning, construction and procurement context while contributing to the overall design development, production of information and monitoring of the onsite works. The project required careful consideration of security, operational functionality and durability, ensuring that the facility meets modern standards while supporting the day-to-day operation of the prison.
